Laura May (Juillet) Shenkosky passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the age of 92.

She was born on January 5, 1931 in Detroit, the only child of Felix and Lillian (nee Todd) Juillet. A lifelong eastsider, Laura attended Clark Elementary, Jackson Intermediate, and Southeastern High School (*49). She married John T. Shenkosky on August 26, 1950 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Detroit. Left a relatively young widow, Laura spent over thirty years living with her daughter Susan and her family in Grosse Pointe Farms before becoming a resident of The Rivers in Grosse Pointe
Woods in early 2020.

During the late 1980's and early 1990's, Laura was the "bus lady" for the after school religious education program at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church which picked up students, including her grandchildren, from Kerby and Richard Elementary Schools each week. Laura also babysat for many neighborhood families.

Laura enjoyed worshipping at St. Paul on the Lake, the same church where her maternal grandparents worshipped when they emigrated from Northern Ireland in 1911 and who are buried in the St. Paul Cemetery on Moross Road in Grosse Pointe Farms. Laura was also very proud of her French Canadian heritage and is directly descended from Blaise Juillet dit Avignon, her eighth great grandfather, one of the founding habitants of Ville Marie (Montreal).

Laura is survived by her daughter Susan (William) Vogel, and sons John (Felice) and Andrew (Mindy Naumann) Shenkosky. Grandchildren; William (Lorie) Vogel III, Joseph (Sarah) Vogel, Elizabeth (Johann Finkelmeier) Vogel, Michael Vogel, Caitlyn (Wesley) Eldred, Andrew, Natalie, and Lily Shenkosky. Great grandchildren: William IV, Braden, and Gavin Vogel; Oren and Miles Wolfe. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter
Erynn Ashley Shenkosky.

Laura will lie Instate on Thursday, June 1 at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 175 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms at 9:30am until time of Mass which will follow at
10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp.
