Donald Edgar Norat, of Clinton Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the age of 89.
Don was born to Manuel and Honorata in 1934. He was raised with his sister, Natalie, and graduated from St Thomas Catholic School. After high school he served in the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors/EDS after 30+ years dedicated work. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and remained a member of St Thecla Catholic Church.
At the age of 21, Don began dating the love of his life, Doreen, after knowing each other since grade school. They were married September 7, 1959 and have since celebrated their 63rd anniversary.
Don was a reserved man of few words but was always focused on providing for his family and keeping his mind sharp. He enjoyed playing golf, solving sudoku puzzles, and playing poker with his friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Doreen, children, Paul (Diane) Norat, and Stacy (Terry) Jones, Elizabeth (Neil) Norat; 5 grandchildren; Bradley (Sheena) Norat, Eric (Nikki) Norat, Lynnsey (Nick) Mighion, Nicole Norat, Karli (Franklin) Sisler; and his sister, Natalie (Norm) Kline, brother in law Larry (Catherine) Orlowski. He is the proud great grandfather to Theodore, Raylan, James, Langston, Joseph and Daniel, with his 7th great grandchild on the way.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Neil Norat, and his parents, Manuel and Honorata.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 21st 3-8pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 43300 Garfield Road, Clinton Township 48038. Donald will lie instate on Monday, May 22nd at 9:30am until time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00am, at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 20740 S Nunneley Rd., Clinton Township 48035. Internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 4390 Conner Street, Detroit 48215.
