David John Knox, age 93, of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 20, 2021.

David was born June 28, 1927 to the late John and Mary Knox. He was born in Detroit, Michigan before moving with his family to Scotland where he was raised. He joined the Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant during his military career. He was honorably discharged in the United States were he then met his wife, Gail Ingram, and started their family. He enjoyed golfing and was often working to improve his game. David was a devout Catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and spent a lot of his time at St. Clare Parish where he was a member for over 15 years. He was a fixture at the church. If you came to a mass at St. Clare Parish you were sure to see him directing parking lot traffic or lending a hand in the office. Family was very important to David; he loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Beloved husband of the late Gail. Loving father of Michelle Nemeckay (Mark), David (Josie) Knox, the late Peter (Heather) Knox, the late Mary Catherine Knox, Beth Ciraulo, Colleen (Pete) Spencer, James (Mary Ann) Knox, and Maria (Paul) Domke. Cherished grandfather of 10, and great-grandfather of 13. Dear brother of John (Florence) Knox, the late Robert (Pat) Knox, and the late Margaret (Cornelius) Smits.

To my dad , my rock and my everything. He was my go to for advice . He always gave me support and had my back . I could count on him for anything. He liked whatever I cooked for him , never complained. He was someone I respected. A great role model as a husband , a father and a friend . He taught me how to be kind and help others . I feel so fortunate to have been raised by such a great man ,MY DAD ❤️

Dave and I both worked part time in the parish office. I always came early for the Sat. mass so I could spend some time in the office visiting with Dave - a very kind, knowledgeable, thoughtful man. We used to joke that on those Sat. afternoons we were solving the world's problems. After he retired from his parish job I missed him so much. So I was doubly delighted to see him at mass. Good-bye for now, Dave. When we meet again we'll have so much to talk about. Gee, I'm so sorry you're gone but happy you're back with Gail. Valerie Binder, CSJ

My sincere condolences to his substantial and wonderful family, I love them all!!! Blessings! Tom Ingram

CandleSince we heard of Dave's passing we were trying to think of what we could say about him. All we can say is he was one of the nicest, kindest and gentlest men we have ever met. Always there to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be sorely missed at St. Clare.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the entire family.
