Michael Gallagher, longtime supervisor in the City of Detroit Department of Parks and Recreation, died on December 17 of natural causes. He was 70 years old.
Mike grew up in Detroit, was an Eagle Scout and graduated from St. Martin High School and Wayne State University. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army's First Cavalry Division and earned a Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman's Badge in Vietnam.
He was predeceased by parents, Thomas and Mary, and brother, Patrick. Survivors include brothers Tim, Dennis, Terry and Paul, and sister Mary, as well as two nephews and two nieces.
Michael will lie instate on Friday, December 27 from 10 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11 am at St. Ambrose Church, 15020 Hampton Street, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan 48230.
Interment at a later date in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
