Obituary for Marion Grace Schott (Giamane)

Marion G. Schott (nee: Giamane), age 87, died on Friday, December 6, 2019 at The Rivers in Grosse Pointe Woods. She was born on August 30, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Grace (nee: Vitale) Giamane.

Marion grew up in Detroit where she attended Dominican High School. Marion met her husband, Herb, in 1976 through his sister.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing cards and dancing in her spare time. Marion and her husband, Herb, also enjoyed going camping.

Marion was a dedicated mother and homemaker to her family. She loved to cook and care for her family. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Marion was the loving wife of Herb Schott and the late Lt. Col. Robert Youngblood (1972). Dear mother of William (Mary) Youngblood, Richard (Gina) Youngblood, Catherine (Art) Serafinski, Diane (Paul) McDonald, and Jeanne (Mark) Bedenko. Loving grandma of Laura Youngblood, Emily Youngblood, Daniel Youngblood, Ashley Youngblood, Raymond Youngblood, Kristen Serafinski, Rachel Serafinski, Meghan (Adam) Strpko, Lauren McDonald, John Paul McDonald, Jessica Bedenko, Matthew Bedenko, Casey Bedenko and Kyle Bedenko. Cherished great-grandma of Thomas Strpko and Lucas Strpko. Beloved sister-in-law of Mary Giamane and sister of the late Joseph Giamane (2003).

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13 from 4 pm to 8 pm with a 7 pm Scripture Service at Chas. Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230. She will lie in state on Saturday, December 14 from 10 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Clare of Montefalco, 1401 Whittier Rd, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230. Memorial contributions to National Right To Life are appreciated.
