Lucille A. “Sheila” Monark, a loving sister, aunt, and friend to all, answered the Lord’s call the evening of February 6, 2020, in Roseville, Michigan. Sheila was born on October 29, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to John P. and Anna Z. Monark. Sheila’s father worked in the auto industry and her mother was a homemaker. Her brother John A. Monark preceded her in death. Sheila graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Teaching. Upon graduation, she worked at PPG in Marketing and as a Home Health Educator. Several years later, she continued her studies at Michigan State University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education. She taught in the Detroit Public Schools for 36 years. Sheila, a devout Catholic, served in many volunteer roles at her parishes – GESU and St. Philomena. Upon retirement, Sheila volunteered for many years at the Father Solanus Casey Center. Sheila is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Monark, seven nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. A prayer service will be Tuesday, February 11, 1 pm, at Chas.
