June Mary Betzing. Age 96. December 23, 2019

June was born to the late Arthur and May Fox on May 27, 1923. Beloved wife of the late George. Loving mother of Anne DeHaan (David) and William “Bill” Betzing (Pam). Proud grandmother of Daniel (Shawn) Betzing, Andrew (Stephanie) DeHaan, Aubree DeHaan, Caryn (Eric) Aiello and James “Jim” DeHaan. Dear sister of the late Louis (Jean) Fox and Mary Ruth Fox (family friend Alice Cudlipp). June attended St. Clare Montefalco Elementary school where she was recently recognized as the oldest living graduate. Throughout her life June continued to be involved with St. Clare parish. Eventually she attended Our Lady Queen of Peace where she volunteered in the school, church and Girl Scout troop for many years. She was a proud graduate of Marygrove College, again staying active with the school and her fellow classmates for many years. June taught in Detroit Public Schools taking time off to raise her family. She returned to teaching as a substitute and assisted children in need of extra help with reading. During her time at Marygrove June became involved with those who were visually challenged. Eventually she became certified by the Library of Congress as a Braille Translator, transcribing textbooks into Braille for young students. This led her to yet another volunteer opportunity, this time with the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. She assisted with fundraisers and transporting visually impaired adults to social events. She loved camping, celebrating patriotic holidays and any event involving family, friends and neighbors.
