Dr. James C. C. Leisen passed on December 3, 2019. He is survived by his spouse Anita G. Leisen; educator, Giesing family member and spiritual being. They were three weeks from their 50th wedding anniversary. Dr. Leisen was a Rheumatologist for 30 years at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. For fourteen of those years he served as Head of the Rheumatology department. Since 2011 Dr. Leisen had been working at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Medical Consultant. He served as a Navy Commander in Destroyer Division 72 in the Vietnam War. He is survived by their three children: Frederic Cristy, Carolyn Leisen, and Kathy Leisen, and grandchildren Lilja and Tyler who look for guidance in his humility, diligence, and dependability. He is described by a family friend as “One of the most hilarous people in the world”. He was an avid learner of languages (Spanish and German), history, and geology. He will be remembered by those who loved him for his presence, sense of humor, and the wisdom he showed us in his honesty.
A Memorial Mass for Dr. Leisen will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 4 pm at St. Clare of Montefalco,1401 Whittier Road, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.
Immediately following the Memorial Mass will be a Memorial Gathering from 5 pm to 8 pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc, 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.
